Is FairPlay Legal in India — Clear State-Wise Answer and Owner Facts
Whether FairPlay is lawful for you turns on your postcode, not on the brand. Indian states write their own betting rules, which is why Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu restrict online betting while others stay vague, and a 2025 central Act on online money games now overlays all of them. So: a grey area, a state check first, and adults of 18 and over only.

Where you live decides most of it. The FairPlay address you type decides none of it.
For well over a century the only central statute was the Public Gambling Act of 1867, written for physical gaming houses and silent on anything with a login screen. The Constitution then placed betting and gambling on the state list. So nobody could answer the FairPlay question for every reader at once, because each state kept, amended or replaced the old Act on its own timetable, and a few went much further than the rest.
| Where | Position on online betting | What it means for FairPlay |
|---|---|---|
| Telangana | State gaming law amended to cover online play for stakes | Restricted. Treat FairPlay as not permitted here |
| Andhra Pradesh | Own amendment against online gambling and betting | Restricted, same reading as Telangana |
| Tamil Nadu | A separate state Act on online gambling, with a state authority to enforce it | Restricted for money games |
| Most other states | Older gaming laws that never mention the internet | Grey area. Read the current rule before opening FairPlay |
| All of India | Central Act of 2025 on online money games | Applies over and above the state rule |
That was the older picture. It got messier in 2025, when Parliament passed the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, a central law aimed at online games played for money and at the people who offer and advertise them. How it is enforced against offshore brands is still settling, and state rules keep shifting under it.
Nothing here is a promise that FairPlay is legal where you sit. Nobody at the FairPlay desk can make that promise either.
Why Official FairPlay Addresses Get Blocked on Indian Networks
Blocking orders in India go to internet providers, and a provider blocks a domain name. Not an account, not a balance. A FairPlay address that loaded at lunch can time out by evening on one network and still open on another, which is roughly why the brand runs 11 number addresses and 4 name addresses side by side.
The desk hears one pattern a lot. Someone on a Pune broadband line finds the usual FairPlay address dead on a Friday, decides the brand has vanished with the wallet, and sends three worried messages in a row. The money was never stored on that domain. It sat on the account, and the same FairPlay ID opened the same balance on another address later that day.
A block tells you something about the law, though. It does not tell you FairPlay has closed.
What a Block Means for a Real FairPlay Account Holder
- Your ID
- Stored on the account server, so a dead domain cannot erase it. How one gets issued is on the FairPlay ID page.
- Your money
- Deposits start at ₹300 and the smallest withdrawal is ₹600. A blocked domain changes neither figure.
- Your age
- 18 or older, no exceptions. It is one of the 8 conditions in the FairPlay terms.
- Your limits
- 3 deposit cap sizes and a 24-hour pause, set out under FairPlay responsible gaming.
- Your state
- Checking local law is on you. The FairPlay desk does not do it for you.
People also ask about the FairPlay owner. The brand does not print a named individual on its addresses, and this desk will not guess at one. What can be said is narrower: no Indian authority issues a licence for an online sports exchange, so any licence quoted for FairPlay would be an offshore one, and an offshore licence does not change what your state law says.
Then the other worry, whether FairPlay is real or fake. In practice "fake" nearly always means a copy site borrowing the name. The desk behind this website has issued IDs since 2019 (the About FairPlay Login Desk page covers that), and the sportsbook itself is easy to test: FairPlay Bet lists 70+ markets on a T20 match, which a copy site rarely bothers to build.
Real is not the same as legal. A working FairPlay wallet proves the first and says nothing about the second.
Tax on FairPlay Winnings: Quick TDS Note on Section 194BA
Take the two floor figures on FairPlay. Pay in ₹300, draw out ₹600, and the net winning is ₹300. Section 194BA of the Income Tax Act puts tax deducted at source on that net amount, not on the full ₹600, at 30 per cent for now, counted either when you withdraw or when the financial year closes.
Legal status and tax status are separate questions. If nothing is deducted on a FairPlay payout, the income still belongs in your return, and a chartered accountant (not a betting desk) should check the numbers.

FairPlay Owner, Review and Real or Fake: Verified Notes
Four searches land on this page. The first, is fairplay legal in india, has no countrywide answer: gambling is a state matter, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu restrict online betting, and a 2025 central Act on online money games applies as well. The second, fairplay owner, has no published name behind it, and FairPlay holds no Indian licence because none is issued for an online sports exchange. The third, fairplay is real or fake, usually comes from someone who met a copy site; a FairPlay ID issued by the desk, which has worked since 2019, opens the same balance on every address.
FairPlay Review Points: Safe Payout and KYC Checks
A fairplay review tends to turn on two things, how long a payout took and whether KYC held it up. FairPlay sends UPI payouts in about 35 minutes and bank transfers in about 3 hours, from a ₹600 minimum, and the name on the bank account has to match the name on the FairPlay ID. Support answers 24x7 with a first reply near 2 minutes. Read any review with its date in mind, since addresses and state rules both move.

FairPlay Legal Status Questions With Verified Short Answers
Is FairPlay legal to use across India?
No blanket answer exists, because betting law in India is set state by state. Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu restrict online betting through their own laws, many states have older rules that never mention the internet, and a 2025 central Act on online money games also applies. FairPlay is for adults aged 18 and above.
Which states restrict FairPlay and similar betting sites?
Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu are the clearest examples, each with a state law aimed at online betting or gambling. Other states change their rules from time to time, so a list printed today can be stale within months. Read the current law for your own state before opening a FairPlay account.
Is it safe to deposit money on FairPlay?
It carries risk, and how much depends on your state and on which address you use. Deposit only through an ID issued by the FairPlay desk, start at the ₹300 minimum, and try a ₹600 withdrawal early rather than late. Never pay into a copy site that only borrows the FairPlay name.
Are FairPlay winnings taxed in India?
Yes, and the tax follows the withdrawal rather than the bet. Each time FairPlay money moves to your bank, section 194BA looks at what came out minus what went in for the year, and 30 per cent of any positive figure is due at source. Nothing deducted? Then the figure goes in your own return.
